A special note from the talented Reh from "Crafted by Powers":
Hi there, I am Reh Powers.
Crafted by Powers is my small business and am blessed to run it from my home on the Beautiful North Stradbroke Island. I love gardening and all things art and craft.
Today I am writing a bit about my macramé wedding arch I had the pleasure of creating for Stradbroke Islands Wedding and Events Planner, Donna Shannon.
When Donna approached me to craft up a wedding arch for one of her brides, I was both humbled and grateful for the opportunity.
I remember I went straight home and carefully planned the arch and after a week, I ordered the rope.
The time I spent on measuring and cutting the 750m of rope that makes the arch, added up to be more than 5 hours. I spent two months part-time, on the arch, knotting and un-knotting it to make it just right.
There is more than 30 hours of time and thoughts poured into that arch, and the result is beautiful and surprised even me.
I wanted to get some pictures before I delivered the completed arch to Donna, but I am no photographer! So off I went, to ask Snapshots of Straddie owner, Julie Sisco, if she could take some professional photos for me. Julie was amazing, and agreed to on short notice. I also asked Julie's beautiful daughter Tai if she would be my model - which she kindly agreed to (also on short notice!).
Julie suggested a beach location, with the whitened paper bark trees as a background.
So, we lugged the arch, and all the photography equipment down the beach on dusk, to create what turned out to be an amazing photo shoot!
So here's to some very talented and gorgeous people;
Thank you, Donna, for offering me a fantastic opportunity to create something so beautiful!
And to Julie for making the time on such short notice, to take such amazing photos of the arch!
And lastly to Tai, who was a stunning model, and made my arch look like something out of a fairy tale!
Island love, Reh.
